Emergency Preparedness and Response

The Directorate of Emergency Preparedness and Response is responsible for the mitigation, preparedness, response, and recovery of emergencies and disasters. The directorate comprises of the divisions of Public Health Strategic Stockpile and logistics, Public Health Disaster Response, Public Health Workforce Development and Public Health Emergency Operation Center.

The core function of the directorate includes the formulation and implementation of policies, norms and standards, guidelines for public health disaster response, strategic stockpile and logistics, workforce development and public health emergency operation centers; establishing and maintaining a robust system for public health All Hazards disaster response; maintain system for strategic stockpile and logistics, establishing and maintaining appropriate response capacity /workforce at all levels (national, regional, Counties), establishing and maintaining Public Health Emergency Operation Centres for coordination and information management, establishing and maintaining database for public health expertise movement and criteria for field reinforcement during public health emergencies and disasters.
