A seasoned healthcare industry and business leader, Mr. Paul Ndung’u Kariuki brings over 13 years of strategic leadership and sectoral expertise to the Kenya National Public Health Institute as Chairman of the Board of Directors. With a strong background in biomedical sciences and an MBA in Marketing, he possesses deep operational understanding of healthcare delivery across public, private, faith-based, and NGO sectors. His experience in ethical governance and managerial excellence aligns with KNPHI’s mandate of strengthening national public health systems, where he contributes strategic oversight, industry insight, and a strong commitment to public service and institutional accountability.

Mr. Boniface Yego

Is an epidemioligist and public health specialist with over 20 years experience in Kenya, Somalia-Somaliland, Djibouti, Ethiopia, Liberia, Sere-leone, Tanzania among others as senior programme coordinator including UKAid, USAid, global fund, European Union, UNICEF among others.
He is a senior aqualified programme manager and coordinator able to stimulate strategic thinking to motivate n facilitate constructive involvement. He has a knowledge n experience in performing high quality strategic health programme planning, monitoring and evaluation.
Yego posseses skills in financial management, peogramme design, management n evaluation, ensuring cost effective use of resource and efficient public informatiion communication strategy.
Areas of expertise epidemiology and primary healthcare, global health security, monitoring and evaluation.

Dr. Patrisio Njiru Njeru

Dr. Patrisio Njiru Njeru is a Kenyan Food Scientist, Quality Management Systems (QMS) expert, and AI-in-Quality specialist with over 15 years of experience in academia, consultancy, research, and public service. He holds a PhD in Food Sciences from Christian-Albrechts-Universität zu Kiel / Max Rubner Institute (Germany), an MBA from Strathmore Business School, an MSc and First-Class BSc in Food Science from Egerton University.
He is currently Principal Consultant and Partner at TKZ Consulting Group Ltd, specializing in ISO 9001:2015 implementation, Food Safety (HACCP), Environmental & Social Impact Assessments, AI-driven QMS automation, and strategic management systems.
Dr. Njeru has served as:
- Lecturer and Acting Head of Department at Technical University of Kenya
- Lecturer at Kenyatta University and Kimathi University College
- County Executive Committee Member for Agriculture (2013–2017)

Dr. Njeru has published extensively in food microbiology, probiotics, immunology, and molecular biology, and is actively involved in professional bodies including KEBS, NEMA, and the National Quality Institute. He is also a Rotarian and community leader, serving in multiple Rotary leadership roles.

CPA Simon K. Kiriiba

A finance expert with an MBA from Kenya Methodist University and extensive experience in public finance. Mr Simon Komu Kiriiba has led financial operations in Meru Central District, Embu County, Murangá County and Nairobi County, overseeing key projects and decentralizing NG-CDF funds. He currently heads the Parliamentary Liaison Office at the National Treasury & Economic Planning, contributing valuable financial acumen to parliamentary audit committees.His diverse educational and professional background positions him well to contribute effectively to the initiatives of the National Public Health Institute, ensuring sound financial management for public health programs.

Dr. Maureen Kamene Kimenye
Ag. Director General, NPHI
She is a medical doctor, public health consultant, and strategic leader currently, serving as the Director general NHPI. She holds an MPH, MBA, and MA (International Studies), Project Management, Epidemiology and Operations Research. She previously served as the Ag Head Directorate of Public Health, Head of the legislation division, and Head of the National Tuberculosis Leprosy and Lung Disease Program in the Ministry. She has managed diplomatic relations as part of the Kenyan government’s COVID-19 travel relations, negotiated various grants for Kenya and served in humanitarian health services with UNHCR and IOM amongst other accomplishments.
